DESCRIPTION:Download Flyer     Go to Application \nAbout the Campaign Organizing and Leadership Institutes\nThe Institutes are designed to create a unique learning and interactive experience. The course work will inspire you to refine your organizing and leadership skills\, both as an individual leader and an influencer of others – coalition members\, colleagues\, partners\, and supporters. You will be motivated to actively share your training experience and become empowered to teach\, coach\, and lead others in the creation and execution of winning tobacco control and endgame policy campaigns. \nThe Training Schedule and Content\nHeld on Zoom\, the Institute begins with a meet-and-greet session on February 8\, from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. It will be followed by two days of training\, February 9 and 10\, each day from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. \nThe Institute training is designed to create a unique learning and interactive experience. The course work will inspire you to refine your organizing and leadership skills\, both as an individual leader and an influencer of others – coalition members\, colleagues\, partners\, and supporters. You will be motivated to actively share your training experience and become empowered to teach\, coach\, and lead others in the creation and execution of winning tobacco control and endgame policy campaigns. The Institute will include five key training modules: \n\nYour Story\, Your “Why” – understanding the role stories play in organizing and helping others find their voice.\nHealth Equity – understanding the cultural context\, the role of social determinants of health and tobacco\, and how advocates can connect tobacco control to social justice.\nLeadership – identifying and refining your unique leadership approach to make a difference.\nCommunity Organizing and Engagement – laying the groundwork and building on existing systems that lead to more non-traditional stakeholders and supporters.\nStrategic Communications – leading with your voice and helping others\, whether in a public space\, city council meeting\, or with press.\n\nApplication Process\nThe Institutes are open to all CTCP-funded projects and participation is limited to 50 people. The application can be found here. Please submit your application and letter of reference by Friday\, January 28 at 11:59 PM PST. Applicants will be notified by February 1. Contact organizingtoendtobacco@heart.org with any questions. \nFAQs\nWhat level of experience are you are you looking for? Are the institutes just for veteran tobacco control advocates or can someone who is new to tobacco control apply? \nIndividuals of all experience levels with community organizing and/or tobacco control are encouraged to apply. \nAre the Institutes open to coalition members? \nAt this time\, the Institutes are designed for staff of California Tobacco Control Program-funded projects. There may be an opportunity in the future for coalition member participation. \nCan contractors\, subcontractors\, or consultants of CTCP-funded projects apply? \nNot at this time. The Institutes are designed for staff who are engaged in CTCP-funded projects. \nCan more than one person per project apply for the Institutes? \nYes. There is no restriction on how many staff members may apply from a project. \nWhat are you looking for in the reference letter? \nThe reference letter should be provided by an individual who can speak to your capacity or experience in leadership\, tobacco control and policy campaigns.
